USE CASES

High-end headphones offer excellent listening quality. Some incorporate active technologies to reduce background noise.

Users are immersed in their own sound world, at the risk of being unaware of important signals from their surroundings. When crossing the street, for example, users may not hear an approaching car. On public transport, wearing headphones can cause them to miss the announcement that they have arrived at their destination.

The AHEAD technology overcomes these disadvantages while offering new features.

ADVANTAGES

Built into the headphones and connected to the user’s smartphone, AHEAD can locate different sound sources, characterise them and process them to reshape the sound environment to suit the context and the user.

Users can compose their own soundscape rather than cutting themselves off completely or submitting to their surroundings. They stay in touch with their environment while benefiting from excellent sound quality. Selected sound sources can be amplified, attenuated or enhanced for an improved experience (augmented sonic reality).

APPLICATIONS

The AHEAD technology is targeted at the sporting events market. Sports clubs will be able to offer an augmented sonic reality experience in stadium boxes and VIP lounges, delivering an improved immersive experience (enhancement with sounds from the pitch – the noise of the ball etc.).

The consumer market for listening to music on the go is also a target. Medical applications are also being investigated.
