USE CASES

In the event of stroke, a precise diagnosis must be established by a highly qualified specialist, as quickly as possible. This diagnosis includes the visual interpretation of a brain MRI to decide on the endovascular recanalization treatment.

The doctor must quickly choose a treatment option (low or standard dose thrombolysis, thrombectomy) by briefly studying the images, without any possibility for in-depth assessment, in a context where every minute the patient remains untreated increases the risk of handicap or death.

FAUST is a diagnostic aid algorithm that meets these speed and reliability requirements for hyperacute ischemic stroke (< 3 hours).

ADVANTAGES

FAUST is the first complete automatic tool for simultaneous segmentation of lesions and thrombi. Lesion segmentation has now reached the same level of performance as segmentation performed by a neurologist.

Over time, the technique should be able to provide more information than the naked eye on the texture of the thrombus and its visibility. Artificial intelligence could also provide numerical values for the relevant parameters instead of the approximations currently used.

APPLICATIONS

The FAUST technology is intended for healthcare professionals (neurovascular unit and emergency medicine), independent of their experience or expertise, and will allow for diagnosis even if an expert is not on site (telemedecine).

The advantage of this assistance is even greater for a minority of patients where a treatment decision is difficult.
