USE CASES

Skin models are important alternatives to animal testing in the field of medical, pharmaceutical and cosmetic research. They offer many advantages in terms of ethicsaccuracy, and cost compared to the use of animals.

They are used, for example, in safety testing of cosmetic and pharmaceutical products, and in R&D for skin diseases.

ADVANTAGES

In addition to ethical concerns, which applies to all models as they avoid the use of animals, the new models shall be controlled to accurately mimic human skin structure and function, making them more relevant for predicting human skin responses than animal testing.

Versatility for adaptation to healthy or pathological models can be improved, as can reproducibility over time.

APPLICATIONS

The first application would be for non-regulatory R&D stages to develop new pathological models, to study various biological aspects of the skin and skin diseases and for the preclinical evaluation of topical drugs.

In short, skin models offer an ethical, accurate, and cost-effective alternative to animal testing in many skin-related applications, while guaranteeing product safety and progress in biomedical research.
