USE CASES

The challenge of developing new cancer treatments remains significant. There are three main types of treatment: surgery and/or radiotherapy and/or biological/chemical agents with anti-cancer properties.

The search for new strategies is often based on improving the therapeutic index by targeting tumor cells. One strategy is to release the active ingredient only in the immediate vicinity of the tumor.

Le projet CBORBIG résout ce problème de reconnaissance en temps réel dans les vidéos.

ADVANTAGES

Many types of cancer can be treated with radiotherapy. SMARTHER technology involves developing a “prodrug platform” that will release the active ingredient via a therapeutic dose of radiotherapy. In addition to the local effect of the cytotoxic agent, there will be a radio-amplifying effect. The system is designed to be adaptable with the same release performance (number of grays, % release) to many cytotoxic drugs in order to predict efficacy and limit the costs of development per compound.

APPLICATIONS

The product will initially be indicated for tumors currently treated with a combination of radiation and chemotherapy, with or without surgery. It may be extended to all tumors treated with radiation therapy and adjuvant chemotherapy. SMARTHER will be used with both cytotoxic agents that already have marketing authorization (MA) and molecules in development in order to improve their therapeutic index.
