USE CASES

The vast majority of “biological” drugs such as peptides are injected. This type of administration is particularly limiting in the case of chronic diseases, and the transdermal route, which can be administered by the patient themselves, could address this limitation.

ADVANTAGES

The proposed technology enables the manufacture of stable, soluble microneedles concentrated with peptides, greatly simplifying self-administration, formulation, and waste management after use. This technology will also be perfectly suited to chronic treatment and customizable.

APPLICATIONS

Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) is a chronic kidney disease characterized by the progressive development of kidney cysts, which in most cases leads to kidney failure.

Treatment is mainly symptomatic, but a new peptide-based vasopressin receptor inhibitor could have a beneficial impact on patients. AQUAVITRO therefore proposes to create microneedles of this peptide, which would be easier to administer, transport, and store.
