Within the framework of its technology transfer mission, SATT Paris–Saclay initiates, on a regular basis, calls for projects with research laboratories of the Université Paris-Saclay and the Institut Polytechnique de Paris.

Aim: to remove the technical obstacles and secure the intellectual property in order to turn a technology into a product and bring off its industrial transfer.

Target

  • Call for projects aimed at researchers who are members of the Paris-Saclay Cluster: Université Paris-Saclay, Institut Polytechnique de Paris and HEC.

Technological maturity prerequisite

  • Proof of academic concept (TRL 3)

Market maturity prerequisite

  • Application market has been identified, benchmarking elements have been analyzed (positioning of the technology as regards academic and industrial state of the art, identification of competition solutions).

Intellectual property

  • No publication should have been made before the scientific results are protected.

SATT Paris-Saclay investment up to € 450 k along with 12 to 24 months support

This investment covers:

  • Personnel expenses (salaries of the staff members specifically recruited for the project, excluding permanent laboratory staff)
  • Sub-contracting expenses
  • Equipment expenses
  • Expenses related to the registration and maintenance of the project’s intellectual property

Achieve a satisfactory maturity level

  • The SATT Paris-Saclay maturation program makes it possible to achieve a satisfactory maturity level enabling the granting of a license to an industrial partner or to consider creating a company without requiring new technology developments.

Aim: to create a proof of concept which can be applied on an identified market.

Target

  • Call for projects aimed at researchers who are members of the Paris-Saclay Cluster: Université Paris-Saclay, Institut Polytechnique de Paris and HEC.

Technological maturity prerequisite

  • Research results which have been experimentally demonstrated (TRL 2-3 or equivalent for life sciences).

Market maturity prerequisite

  • Technical and market specifications identified by an external study.

Intellectual property

  • No publication should have been made before the scientific results are protected.

SATT Paris-Saclay investment up to €100 k along with 9 to 12 months support

This investment covers:

  • Personnel expenses – salaries of the staff members specifically recruited for the project, excluding permanent laboratory staff – [from € 30 to 70 k]
  • Performing market and/or intellectual property surveys (managed directly by SATT) and handling the registration of intellectual property related to the project results [€ 20 k]
  • Payment of management expenses for the teaching organizations [8% of personnel expenses]

A springboard to the Maturation program

  • The Poc’Up project support program is a springboard to the Maturation program which opens up prospects for the creation of startups or the granting of a license to an industrial partner.
  • Poc’Up Call for project + Maturation Call for project = up to € 550 k of SATT investment for a total duration of 24 to 36 months.

Aim: to create a proof of concept which can be applied and to define an optimal technology transfer strategy.

Target

  • Call for projects aimed at young Ph.Ds or third-year Ph.D. students coming from at least one laboratory that is part of the Paris-Saclay Cluster – Université Paris-Saclay, Institut Polytechnique de Paris and HEC – who presented their thesis after 2017.

Technological maturity prerequisite

  • Research results which have been experimentally demonstrated (TRL 2 or equivalent for life sciences).

Market maturity prerequisite

  • Application anticipated; market not identified.

Intellectual property

  • No publication should have been made before the scientific results are protected. Publication of the thesis is considered to be a disclosure.

SATT Paris-Saclay Investment up to 100 k€ along with 9 to 12 months support enabling:

  • Recruitment of the young Ph.D. and technical and scientific work (up to € 74 k)
  • Market and/or intellectual property surveys (directly managed by SATT) and registration of intellectual property related to the project results (€ 20 k)
  • Payment of management expenses for the teaching organizations (8% of personnel expenses)

The training of the young Ph.D. in technology transfer, with the aim of creating a startup which will develop and market the identified product or service or the granting of a license to an industrial partner is an integral part of the support program.

  • The Young PhD.D’s support program constitutes a springboard to industrial transfer or a Maturation program which opens up prospects for the creation of startups or the granting of a license to an industrial partner.
  • Young Ph.D. Call for project + Maturation Call for project = up to € 550 k of SATT investment including salary for the Ph.D. during 30 months
